14 Dec 2011
Angel Romaeo was named the Carwyn
James Junior Sportswoman of the Year last night, at the BBC Cymru Sports Personality of the Year awards.
Held at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea the awards recognise sporting achievements in Wales and celebrate those who have made 2011 their special year.
Angel has had a truly special year securing champion status, at no less than five events. Romaeo is Youth Commonwealth Games Champion, Espoir Champion, Northern European Champion, Celtic Cup Champion and UK School Games Champion.
Most notably were her achievements at the Commonwealth Youth Games and UK School Games. With four consistent scores she became the women’s artistic youth commonwealth all-around champion and also secured a team silver and individual bronze on the bars. At the UK School Games she earned a remarkable four gold and 1 silver medal. Angel was also selected to represent GB at the European Youth Festival in Turkey.
The Carwyn James award not only recognises her success and achievements for 2011 but puts her in good stead to become another Welsh Olympic gymnast following in the footsteps of Frankie Jones.
