Recreational Gymnastics
Although the earliest history of gymnastics dates back to around 2000 years ago, as a sport, it has only been competitive in the last 120 years.
Recreational Gymnastics provides great opportunities for participants to develop new skills and to get involved with similar people in a fun and creative environment. The ethos that runs through recreational gymnastics is that it is suitable for many gymnasts as every level of skill is catered for. The focus, as with competitive gymnastics, is on participation, freedom, innovation, creativity and self-expression.
The National Eisteddfods are great opportunities to showcase recreational gymnastic talent. To find out more visit our events and gallery section. And whilst Gymnastics for All embraces the non-competitive aspects of traditional gymnastics, more modern disciplines such as street dancing, free-running, flash mobbing and circus skills are also popular, particularly within an urban context.
