Responsibilities

The Safeguarding and Protecting Policy provides a framework for all those involved in gymnastics to meet their duty of care towards young people and are mandatory for all Welsh and British Gymnastics members. Any individual or organisation that is providing a service to Welsh Gymnastics must also demonstrate that they comply with these standards. As part of our commitment to best practice in the care of children, WG expects all of its members to comply with the policy.

It is a requirement that anyone working or volunteering with children or vulnerable adults in a regulated activity (Coaches, Judges, Volunteers, Club Welfare Officers etc) completes Safeguarding training as recognised by Welsh & British Gymnastics. It is also a requirement for this training to be updated every 3 years to ensure it is consistent with the changes in law and legislation. Those in a regulated activity working or volunteering with children or vulnerable adults who have not already completed any safeguarding training must attend the Sports Coach UK Safeguarding and Protecting Children training or a course recognised by British Gymnastics as soon as possible.

Welsh Gymnastics endeavours to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to access gymnastics in a safe environment, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, parental status, disability, religion or belief, colour, race, ethnic or national origins, or socio/economic background and seeks to protect minority groups from discrimination, harassment, or victimisation through the adherence to the Welsh and British Gymnastics Equality Policy which can also be found in the Library Section.
