Disability athlete, James Savoury, has been welcomed into the Vale of Glamorgan Wall of Fame. James has represented Great Britain in the Special Olympics Games in kayaking and was named Welsh Disability Champion in his category at the Welsh Championships in February. He has collected over 500 medals across 10 sports and carried the Olympic Torch in 2004. 

James' plaque was unveiled in the Council Chambers within Barry Library by Mayor Councillor Fredrick T Johnson, Councillor Gwyn John and Jane Hutt AM. Presenting James with the honour, Mr Johnson said; "James has excelled all his life at whatever he has put his hand to. He has unbelievable commitment, determination, adaptability and sporting talent. James is a credit and an inspiration to young athletes."
