With the launch of its 2016 Olympic legacy programme, Welsh Gymnastics’ ambition was to provide support to talented coaches, who are dedicated to contribute to and strengthen the performance pathways in Artistic Gymnastics across Wales. 

Congratulations to the following coaches who have now been selected as part of the Creating Champions 2016 Artistic Performance and Talent Development Coaching Fund; 

  • Melissa Anderson – Valleys Gymnastics Academy - Level 5 – Women’s Artistic
  • Carol Sargeant – Llanelli Gymnastics Club - Level 5 – Women’s Artistic
  • Sian Lewis – Neath Afan GC - Level 5 – Women’s Artistic
  • Sarah Austin – Bangor GC - Level 4 – Women’s Artistic
  • Jessica Hosken – Capital Academy - Level 3 Theory – Women’s Artistic
  • Aled Jones – Valleys Gymnastics Academy – Level 4 – Men’s Artistic
  • Atlanta Martone – Swansea GC – Level 3 – Men’s Artistic
  • Dean Manning – Somersault GC – Level 3 – Men’s Artistic


Each of the successful coaches proved their commitment to the performance pathway and will now receive a share of the £8000 legacy fund aimed to upskill and develop their existing knowledge. We look forward to seeing these coaches help to develop gymnasts in Wales to become future Welsh Olympians and champions of the future.
