The Women’s Artistic National Grades British Final took place last month at Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent. The Welsh teams were made up of the top four gymnasts from the Welsh Regional Rounds which took place in March.

The weekend got off to a great start, with the National 4 Competition. Team Wales, made up of Freya Evans - Llanelli GC, Cerys Williams - Neath Afan GC, Maisie Dickman - Capital Academy and Niamh Coffey - Swansea GC, finished in a credible 4th place. Freya Evans achieved 3rd overall, placing 1st on Beam and 3rd on Vault and Floor and Maisie placing 3rd on Beam.

The Saturday concluded with the National 3 competition. The Welsh Team made up of Katie Connolly – Phoenix GC, Bella Jones – Olympus GC, Andreea-Emilia Buzdugan – CCYC and Shayla Mansfield – Capital Academy finished 12th, against a strong field of gymnasts.

The National 2 Competition took place on the Sunday morning, Seren Rowlands-Higgins of Llanelli GC was the top placing Welsh gymnast, finishing in 6th position overall with Ruby-May Allen of Neath Afan GC not far behind in 8th. Seren also managed 3rd place on Bars and shared 2nd place on Range and Conditioning with her team mate Imogen Shaw-Davies, Llanelli GC. Seren, Ruby-May and Imogen were joined by Hannah Rees of Swansea GC to take 4th place in the team competition.

The weekend drew to a close with the National 1 competition. Sophie Wickham of CCYC placed 5th overall, with Anya Niven of Llanelli GC closely following in 6th. As well as excelling in the All-Around competition Anya managed 1st place on Beam and 2nd on Bars. Georgia Roberts of Olympus GC also posted the 2nd highest Range and Conditioning score of the afternoon. The three girls did exceedingly well and ended the team competition in 3rd position.
