Welsh Gymnastics have been building on their TeamGym judging knowledge after attending a workshop held by National Judging Co-Ordinator Margaret Kerr.

This September, Welsh Gymnastics organised an introductory workshop which gives participants an in-depth look into the TeamGym judging requirements.

TeamGym takes place over three pieces of apparatus; floor, vault and trampette, and is soon to be a new discipline for Welsh Gymnastics.

With codes of practice currently under review, the team at Welsh Gymnastics feel very fortunate that Margaret Kerr (Maggie) has agreed to run this workshop and share her experience with the community.

Maggie currently holds the position of National Judging Co-ordinator on the British TeamGym Technical Committee, and is head coach at Saltire Gymnastics Club in Scotland, which aims to be the most inclusive and successful TeamGym club in the UK.

The workshop, which was held at Kestrel Gymnastics Club in Chepstow, was attended by 34 delegates from 10 different clubs across Wales. Gymnasts from Cardiff Central Youth Club also kindly volunteered to help out with three hours of practical sessions.

TeamGym judging workshopParticipants will receive a formal qualification from this course which will be needed to judge at the Welsh TeamGym championships in December.

After the success of this workshop, Welsh Gymnastics will be organising both a TeamGym club level course and a TeamGym coaching course in the new year.
