We are aware that technical difficulties, due to the high volume of server traffic, are causing people to experience issues when completing their membership online in our new system. Unfortunately we are unable to complete membership registration manually on an individual’s behalf. We are working hard to resolve this and will ensure that insurance cover is in place for members who’ve tried to register but have been unsuccessful.

We hope this provides clubs and members with the confidence to continue their gymnastics activities during this transition period. We will provide updates until this is completely resolved.

There's a new way of for you to join or renew your membership with Welsh and British Gymnastics.

Upcoming new data management regulations mean membership bodies like Welsh and British Gymnastics have needed to alter the way our membership process works.

The new regulations called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are having an impact on the way many organisations work and and how they process data.

How does it affect Welsh Gymnastics?

In short, you now join or renew directly online [link opens in new window], and you can read more information below.

A gymnast who joins a local club also becomes a member of Welsh Gymnastics and British Gymnastics. Historically, clubs gave gymnasts' details to both organisations to allow us to activate membership benefits, including insurance, and to send out their membership pack.

Because of the change in the legislation and from now on, clubs will no longer be able to do this. It means gymnasts themselves (or their parent/guardian if they are under 16-years-old) will need to join or renew their Welsh Gymnastics and British Gymnastics membership directly.

In time for the new membership year, which started on 1 October 2017, gymnasts or their parents/guardians have been given everything they need to know for this new membership process. They should also have received a leaflet from their club.

A new section on our website answers frequently asked questions and outlines the new online membership process.

How does this affect coaches, judges and club memberships?

Renewal dates for coaches, judges and club memberships vary throughout the year. Your club should tell you when your membership is due for renewal, but if you think your membership may be due for renewal you can visit the new section of the website to complete your membership with us for 2017-18 [link opens in new window].

Our membership system will know when you are due to renew and it won’t allow you to complete the process until then.

If you're a judge, perform a club role or perhaps a mixture of both, the system will help you select the membership type you need.

If you have any questions or queries about the new system, please contact your club first, and if you're still having problems, then please get in touch with customer services at British Gymnastics on 0345 1297 129.
