This June, 36 of our Welsh tumblers made their way to Birmingham to represent Wales in the British Regional Team Finals.  Each gymnast qualified via the NDP Championships which were held earlier this year in Haverfordwest Gymnastics Club and for some, it was their first time competing outside of Wales.

Everybody from Team Wales looked the part in their new kit, coaches and gymnasts alike and the whole team worked well together, with all gymnasts competing brilliantly. There was a great sense of teamwork throughout the weekend, with young people from all over Wales cheering and supporting each other on the competition floor.

It was a successful weekend, with 10 out of our 36 competitors qualifying in the top 8 in their age and category for a chance to compete for individual titles in the finals - held this weekend in Nottingham.

A special mention goes to our four medallists;

  • Lauren Moyle from Cardiff Central Youth Club who became British Champion in NDP Level 2
  • Keiran Thomas from Dimax who is a Silver medallist in NDP Level 4
  • Peter Goldberg from Bangor Gymnastics - a Silver medallist in NDP Level 5
  • Adrienne Emmanuel from Dimax, who despite being injured maintained great shape and tempo to come away with a Silver medal in NDP Level 5.

Good luck to everyone in the finals! More information on the event is available here [link opens in new window].

Since the competition, elite level gymnasts Jade Evans and Megan Surman have been selected to represent Great Britain at the Loule Cup in Portugal in October – a huge well done and good luck both!
