Welsh gymnasts Ruby Evans (Cardiff Olympic) and Sofia Micallef (Clwb Cymru Caerdydd), accompanied by Raer Theaker (Welsh Gymnastics) and Elinor Hill (Bangor GC) have been selected to attend the training camp and coach development course in Women's Artistic Gymnastics in Tirrenia (ITA) between 9th-19th July.

The camp is an annual event run by the European Gymnastics Federation (UEG) for gymnasts aged between 10-12 years old. It’s often the very first international experience for young gymnasts and a fantastic learning opportunity for the coaches as they attend academic and practical lectures during the camp.

The camp is run by a panel of experts including Donatella Secchi, the chair of the FIG Women’s Artistic Technical Committee and Nick Ruddock.

Ruby and Sofia were selected following an extremely successful year – both girls are a part of the current Home Nations squad. Ruby is the Compulsory Level 2 British Champion and Sofia Micallef came 4th in the Espoir British AA competition and picked up bronze medals in Vault and Floor finals.

Congratulations girls on your selection!
