This week marks the launch of #ThrivingAthlete or #AthletwrCyflawn, a new campaign launched by Sport Wales that aims to highlight the importance of mental health and wellbeing for positive athlete development in Welsh sport.
As part of the campaign, Sport Wales will be sharing guidance and advice on preparing for life after sport, dealing with the pressures of elite sport, wellbeing tips to help athletes and performance coaches thrive and getting a good life-sport balance.
Jo Coombs, Head of Performance and Excellence at Welsh Gymnastics said: “This is such a worthy campaign. I and all of our Performance coaches recognise that mental wellbeing is just as important as the physical, and #thrivingathlete brings to the forefront the importance of looking after your mental health and how essential it is in order to thrive and enjoy positive experiences in life. This is an excellent campaign and Welsh Gymnastics would encourage all to get involved and share the message of wellbeing.”
Keep an eye on Sport Wales social media channels throughout the week for #ThrivingAthlete content from some of Wales' highest performing athletes and coaches who will be sharing their experiences of mental health.
How can I get involved?
