Welsh Gymnasts Poppy Stickler, Jea Maracha and Mia Evans have been selected for the British Gymnastics Junior Squad.

All three were selected to join the national team after their fantastic performances at the British Artistic Championships held in Liverpool this March.

Jea, who competes for Clwb Cymru Caerdydd was crowned champion at the event - taking gold in the Espoir (under 13s) all-around competition., with Wrexham’s Mia, who now competes for Park Wrekin Gymnastics Club, taking silver. Poppy, also of Clwb Cymru Caerdydd, scooped a bronze medal for her performance.

Jea also won individual gold on beam, while Mia took home the individual gold on floor and silver on vault. Overall, Wales’ young female artistic gymnasts dominated the competition, with the Welsh female Espoir gymnasts taking eight of the top ten spots in the all-around competition and winning gold in every individual apparatus contest.

There were only 13 gymnasts selected for the British squad this year, and so it's a huge achievement for our three promising gymnasts to be recognised for their talents.

The next competition that Jea, Poppy and Mia will be taking part in is Gemau Cymru, and after that we look forward to seeing their first performances as part of the British Gymnastics Junior Squad!

A huge congratulations to all three gymnasts - what a fantastic achievement and good luck in your first competition with the national team.
