Planet Stars beat off competition from eight other youth teams from around the UK to win gold in the Youth Micro Team British Gymnastics Team Gym competition.

The team of 13 and 14-year olds train at Planet Gymnastics and are coached by Alyson Gauregui. They travelled to the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool to compete against very tough competition to win.

Romy Bowen, Olivia Gauregui, Sienna Wilkinson, Emma Chandler and Georgia Williams got through qualification to win gold with a huge 0.5 finish ahead of the second placed Elements Luna team from Dartford.

This is the first time a Welsh team has won a national Team Gym competition.

Coach Alyson Gauregui said of the win: “We are so proud of the girls and how hard they trained and performed for this competition.

“It was a great achievement just to qualify for the competition, but to come away with gold really put Wales on the Team Gym map and I am thrilled for the girls.”
