Last weekend welcomed the first Aerobic competition as part of the Gym for All pathway

Hosted by Newport Leisure Centre, the competition saw over 20 group performances and 34 individual routines on the day. Two of our talented Aerobic clubs, Phoenix Dance & Gym and SJ Aerobic Gymnastics Club, entered the event alongside two clubs from England who travelled over 2hrs to compete!

The Aerobic technical panel is working hard to develop the discipline in Wales; they organised judging workshops specifically targeted at Aerobic Gymnastics to help develop officials in preparation for the Welsh Championships next year.

Maria Gaynor, Welsh Gymnastics Development Officer, works closely with the Aerobic technical panel to help create more opportunities for the discipline:

“This Gym for All competition was part of our long-term strategic plan to promote and develop Aerobic gymnastics in Wales. The technical panel worked extremely hard to ensure we offered an enjoyable and fun competition for all entrants.

All gymnasts performed brilliantly and showed real promise within the discipline. We have received fantastic feedback following this competition, and we will be looking to run this event again next year."

Throughout the competition, a cumulative score was taken and the competition winners were Sparkles (from Bracknell). Congratulations!
