As you may be aware today, we made the difficult decision of cancelling all Welsh Gymnastics national and area events until the end of June.

Please visit our Club Support Page for Coronavirus updates and information

Last night, the UK Government has also announced further social distancing measures and has instructed that people avoid social contact and gatherings where possible and should avoid non-essential travel. We understand that, for our clubs, this advice will have a considerable effect on classes and training. During this difficult time Welsh Gymnastics, advise that you review the guidance and measures that have been introduced by the Government and carry out your own risk assessment to come to a decision on how you can continue to operate your club. Some clubs may also be affected by other circumstances such as leisure centre and venue closures. In addition, some clubs have already made the difficult decision to close temporarily.

This evening the UK Government has issued a string of new financial measures that may assist clubs in the future and Welsh Gymnastics, in conjunction with British Gymnastics, will be examining these measures with the view of assisting clubs to understand how they can be accessed

This is a very uncertain time for all of us and we will endeavour to support you as much as we possibly can. Our team will be working on providing materials and further guidance to help all member clubs so that you can continue to stay informed and connected with your members.

We have made a further decision to suspend sanctioned national gymnastics activities including education courses, workshops and conferences until the end of June. There will be further information regarding squads released shortly.

Welsh Gymnastics are following Government guidelines and have adopted the approach of working from home, whilst maintaining all business as usual activities. We can be contacted in all the usual ways and we will continue to issue communications in line with the latest guidance from the Government and Public Health Wales.

As issued in all guidance, we encourage you to continue practising good hand hygiene and to be aware of the symptoms of the virus.

On behalf of everybody at Welsh Gymnastics, please take care and let’s work together to minimise the impact of this pandemic on the sport we love.
