Welsh Gymnastics’ Aerobic Live sessions proved to be a real smash hit over the past six weeks – and now we want your club to get involved!

Held over six hugely successful weeks and run by coach Laura James, we have been able to engage with 100 gymnasts from all over Wales and the UK every week.

That has allowed us to introduce the aerobic discipline to over 570 gymnasts. Numbers grew week by week, with non-aerobic clubs often being the first to book space.

With spaces limited to 100, they filled up quickly. Our Welsh coaches were also lucky enough to be joined in the sessions by former five-time British champion and GB coach Kerry Scotts from the Sparkles/Bulmershe club in Berkshire.

What is it?

Aerobic gymnastics is a fast-paced dynamic discipline which needs gymnasts to be fit, flexible, strong and to have a love of dancing.

With fast-tempo music and bright lights, competitions are loud and engaging from start to finish.

What do we say?

For many months we have been trying, without much success, to develop aerobic gymnastics as a discipline within Wales.

Having only two Welsh clubs does not stop the Welsh Aerobic Open being one of the biggest aerobic competitions on the domestic calendar and, with these live sessions, Welsh aerobic is leading the way in the aerobic community throughout Britain.

Now, want to try it?

Aerobic gymnasts lends itself nicely to home working as skills and conditioning can be done safely without any additional equipment.

For clubs wanting to diversify and increase their offer to their club members – aerobic gymnastics is perfect.
