The organisers of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham have launched a UK-wide search to find a ‘Mascot Maker’.

Children aged from five to 15 are being challenged to design the official mascot for the Games – while the winner will also bag family tickets to the opening ceremony in two years’ time.

Designs can be drawings, paintings or collages and the deadline for entries is Wednesday 5 August.

To wow the judges, children are being asked to design a mascot which ‘reflects the identity, heritage, and culture of the West Midlands, and embodies everything the region stands for: youthfulness, diversity, dynamism and creativity.’
