We are delighted that Welsh Government today confirmed that gymnastics clubs in Wales are able to reopen their doors from Monday 10 August.
This is very exciting news for our community and gymnasts and we look forward to welcoming you all soon.
In line with the announcement, the Welsh Government will publish guidance for a phased return to sport, recreation and leisure. In this document, they have provided information on how to work, operate and participate in sport whist minimising the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Welsh Gymnastics, in partnership with British Gymnastics and other home nations, have produced gymnastics specific guidance in the Step Forward Plan. We will provide further guidance for all of our clubs, based on what the Welsh Government has published, once we have reviewed the information in more detail. We will then be able to advise on what this means for our members.
Whilst this is exciting news, it is important that clubs only reopen or restart activities when the regulations allow and as soon as you feel able to do so safely. Until you feel it is safe and responsible to reopen, you should remain closed.
If your club is based in a school or leisure centre, the timescales for reopening will be led by the opening date of that facility. We are working with the various operators, highlighting the measures we are putting in place to ensure safety and modifications to activity, meet Welsh Government guidelines. More details will follow shortly.
As you are aware, the Welsh Sports Association have produced Covid Awareness Training and Webinars for clubs preparing to return. We will also be holding our next club update forum on the Thursday 6 August at 7pm.
We are working to ensure that you have all information required in order to safely return to gymnastics and will be in touch shortly.
