Valleys Gymnastics Academy’s remarkable record at the British Gymnastics National Awards continues with two of the club’s members shortlisted for this year’s awards.

Jaz McLellan is in the running for the individual award for Equality and Inclusion, which recognises someone that has made a significant contribution to equality and diversity through the delivery of a quality inclusive gymnastics programme.

Meanwhile Ava Tunley is among the contenders for the Young Leader Award, which recognises a young person between the ages of 11 and 18 who has volunteered their time and enthusiasm to help others enjoy our sport.

Jaz, of course, won the Gymnastics For All award at the 2019 Welsh Gymnastics Awards.

At the 2020 British Gymnastics National Awards, VGA scooped an unprecedented double; winning the National Club Award (for more than 250 members) as well as the club award for Equality and Inclusion – becoming the first club to win two awards at the same event.

It was also the fourth time in five years that VGA had been up for the National Club Award and in winning it they became the first Welsh club to do so.

The British Gymnastics National Awards provide the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of some of the most inspirational people in the gymnastics community.

Despite being unable to host the in-person event later this month due to the pandemic, British Gymnastics will instead be celebrating all of the achievements of those in gymnastics online.

For a full week, taking place from Saturday 29th January to Friday 4th February, BG will be announcing several awards each day on their website and across their social media channels. More information about this will follow in the coming days.

Good luck to all of those shortlisted – and in particular to Jaz and Ava!
