Bev’s role is…

Specialising in coaching, education and sport development; helping set strategic direction for Welsh Gymnastics and making sure resources are in place to meet targets.

What’s keeping Bev busy:

  • Steering the organisation through the Covid-19 pandemic
  • Keeping an eye on the growth of gymnastics in Wales
  • Helping revise the way in which Welsh Gymnastics is governed

Gymnastics history: Bev has gymnastics in her DNA. She trained at Cardiff Olympic and competed for Wales and Great Britain in women’s artistic gymnastics during a very exciting era, dominated by Ludmilla Tourischeva and Olga Korbut.

More about Bev: Towards the end of her competitive life, she trained as a coach and judge whilst teaching Physical Education in Cardiff. She was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study gymnastics coaching in the USSR and USA, which enhanced her development as a national coach and international Brevet judge.

After teaching PE, Bev pursued a career in sport development; first as Technical Director of Welsh Gymnastics, then as manager of the unit in Cardiff Council. Eventually she moved back to working in higher education, at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where she remained until she retired as the Dean of Quality and Standards.
