Over the weekend of 25th–26th April 2026, Welsh rhythmic gymnasts delivered an impressive set of performances at the Rhythmic Open Apparatus Championships, showcasing their talent across multiple categories and apparatus.
Leading the way in the senior competition was Elizabeth Popova of Llanelli Rhythmic Academy, who claimed Gold in the Open Senior Ribbon. She continued her strong showing by also securing Bronze in the Open Senior Clubs, demonstrating both consistency and versatility across apparatus.
In the junior categories, Llanelli Rhythmic Academy athletes made a significant impact. Athena Chan earned Silver in the Open Junior Clubs and added to her medal tally with Bronze in the Open Junior Hoop. Teammate Imogen Coslett also enjoyed a successful competition, taking Bronze in the Open Junior Clubs and Silver in the Open Junior Ribbon.
Further success came in the pre-junior category, where Tiana Popova of Deeside Rhythmic Gymnastics Club secured Bronze in the Open Pre-Junior Hoop, rounding off a strong weekend for Welsh representation.
These results highlight the depth of talent within Welsh rhythmic gymnastics, with athletes across multiple age groups achieving podium finishes. Their performances are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the gymnasts and their coaches, and mark a positive step for the discipline.
