Welsh Gymnastics is proud to celebrate a number of talented athletes who have been selected for the 2025 Great Britain squads across various disciplines. Representing clubs both in Wales and across the UK, these gymnasts have earned their places through commitment, talent, and standout performances, a true reflection of the strength and depth of Welsh Gymnastics.

The athletes selected span Men’s Artistic, Women’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampolining and Tumbling, showcasing the breadth of Welsh talent across the sport.

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics

In Men’s Artistic, four Welsh athletes have been named across the pathway:

Senior Development Squad:

  • Alexander Niscoveanu (South Essex Gymnastics Club)
  • Elliot Vernon (Leeds Gymnastics Club)

Junior Squad:

  • Sammy Cotter (City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics)

Development Squad:

  • Ahmed Mirghany (Swansea Gymnastics Club)

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics continues to go from strength to strength in Wales, with Llanelli RGA producing an impressive trio of GB squad members:

Senior Squad:

  • Elizabeth Popova (Llanelli RGA)

Junior Squad:

  • Athena Chan* (Llanelli RGA)
  • Imogen Coslett (Llanelli RGA)

Trampolining

Development Squad:

  • Efan Oates (Fusion Gymnastics Wales)

Tumbling

Senior Squad:

  • Peter Goldberg (Durham City Gymnastics Club)

Development Squad:

  • Chelsea Hitchens (Wye Gymnastics and Galaxy Cheerleading)

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics

Wales also boasts a strong presence in the Women’s Artistic squads, with athletes continuing to emerge from gymnastics clubs from Wales and across the UK.

Junior Squad:

  • Lexi Holmes (Clwb Cymru Caerdydd / Cardiff Central Youth Club)

Development Squad:

  • Mia Hunter (Park Wrekin Gymnastics Club)
  • Sophia Davies (Clwb Cymru Caerdydd / Penybont Gymnastics Club)

Welsh Gymnastics’ Director of Performance, Holly Broad, praised the selections and paid tribute to the athletes and coaches behind the scenes:

“It’s fantastic to see such a strong group of athletes from a range of disciplines selected for the GBR squads. I’m really proud of what they’ve achieved and want to say a big congratulations to them and their personal coaches. It’s great to see their talent and hard work being recognised at this level.”

These selections highlight the continued development of Welsh talent on the national stage and reflect the dedication of athletes, clubs, coaches, and support networks across the country.
