Between 24 and 26 October 2025, The Herewoode Academy in Leicester hosted the Northern European Championships, welcoming men’s artistic gymnasts from across the region. Wales sent a full-strength MAG team for qualification, all‑around, and apparatus finals, and they produced commendable performances across the board.
In the all‑around, Wales locked out the top four spots: Joe Cemlyn‑Jones claimed the title with 77.000, Elliot Vernon was just behind on 76.650, Jacob Edwards came in third at 76.100, and Alex Niscoveanu placed fourth with 74.900. Theo Amari Ochana alo produced some excellent performances and scored 72.850 to finish 8th, while Henry Lewis closed out the Welsh top ranks in 9th with 71.850.
In the apparatus finals at the Northern European Championships, the Welsh MAG gymnasts showcased their strength and consistency across all events. On floor, Jacob Edwards claimed gold with a score of 13.250, while Joe Cemlyn‑Jones followed closely to take silver at 12.850.
Joe Cemlyn‑Jones also excelled on rings, earning first place with 13.300, with Elliot Vernon taking bronze at 12.700. Henry Lewis delivered a commanding performance on vault, averaging 13.825 to secure the gold medal.
Jacob Edwards continued his strong showing on parallel bars, taking silver with a score of 12.800, while Elliot Vernon dominated the high bar with 13.000, claiming the gold.

The results from Leicester demonstrate not only the individual brilliance within the Welsh team but also the depth and resilience of the squad as a whole. Multiple gymnasts advanced into finals, and the Welsh team made a clear statement: Welsh men’s artistic gymnastics is on the rise, capable of competing with the very best in the Northern European region.
With this momentum, the Welsh MAG team will look ahead to upcoming national and international events, buoyed by confidence and experience.
