Team Wales and Welsh Gymnastics are proud to announce the team of 10 gymnasts selected to represent Wales at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

The five-strong Women’s Artistic team consists of Ruby Evans, Abigail Roper, Emily Roper, Frances Stone and Jemima Taylor.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Artistic team comprises Jacob Edwards, Joe Cemlyn-Jones, Henry Lewis, Alexander Niscoveanu and Elliot Vernon.

Holly Broad, Team Manager for Gymnastics at Glasgow 2026, said:

“We’re delighted to announce the Welsh gymnastics team for Glasgow 2026. This is an exciting squad, with the majority of the gymnasts preparing to compete at their first Commonwealth Games.

“Preparation for these Games has required real commitment from the gymnasts, coaches and support staff, and everyone involved has worked tirelessly to ensure the team is ready to compete and embrace the opportunity ahead. We couldn’t be prouder of all ten gymnasts selected to represent Wales, and I’m confident they will give their best on the Commonwealth stage.”

The Women’s Artistic team features five gymnasts who will all be making their Commonwealth Games debuts. Ruby Evans, the current British Champion the first Welsh Senior gymnast to hold the title since 1971 and current world floor silver medallist, is joined by Abigail Roper, the reigning Welsh senior all-around champion. Emily Roper arrives in Glasgow following a British Championships silver medal on vault and a Welsh vault title, while Frances Stone has demonstrated her strength on beam, claiming bronze at the British Championships. Jemima Taylor completes the team after a series of impressive performances throughout the selection period, including securing bronze on bars at this year’s British Championships.

Ellie Lewis joins the Women’s Artistic team as reserve after claiming All-Around bronze at the Welsh Championships. A talented and dedicated gymnast, Ellie will be a great asset to the team and is ready to step in if needed during the Commonwealth Games campaign.

The Men’s Artistic team combines Commonwealth Games experience with exciting emerging talent. Jacob Edwards and Joe Cemlyn-Jones will both compete at their second Commonwealth Games, bringing valuable experience to the squad. Edwards will be looking to build on his 12th-place finish at Birmingham 2022, while Cemlyn-Jones adds further Games knowledge and leadership to a talented group.

Current Welsh champion Elliot Vernon heads to Glasgow in excellent form as the current Welsh Champion, while Henry Lewis and Alexander Niscoveanu are set to make their Commonwealth Games debuts and will be eager to make their mark on the international stage. Together, the team brings a strong blend of experience, ambition and potential as they prepare to represent Wales this summer.

Daniel Winterborne has been named as the Men’s Artistic reserve following a strong season, with impressive performances at the Home Nation Championships. A consistent and talented gymnast, Daniel will be a valuable asset to the team and is ready to step in if called upon.

Coaching Team and Support Staff

Heading up the coaching teams are Men’s and Women’s Artistic lead coaches Pete Ethrington and Olivia Bryl. They will be supported by Josie Hayes and Luke Folwell.

Holly Broad will serve as Team Manager for Gymnastics at Glasgow 2026, overseeing the programme and supporting the athletes throughout the Games. The wider support team includes experienced physio, Sian Knott, ensuring the gymnasts have access to specialist coaching, performance and medical support throughout the competition and build-up.

Wales will also be represented by Sarah Twose, Elizabeth Lewis, Carol Malone and Alex Row, whose selection reflects the strength and expertise of Welsh officials on the international stage. Their contribution will play an important role in supporting the delivery of the Artistic Gymnastics competition at Glasgow 2026.

The Games officially open on 23 July, with artistic gymnastics events taking place from 24–28 July.

Holly Broad added:

“For gymnastics, the Commonwealth Games provide a unique opportunity to showcase Welsh talent on a major international stage. It is one of the few occasions where our gymnasts have the chance to represent Wales at a multi-sport event, and that is something everyone involved is incredibly proud of.

“The passion these athletes have for representing their country is clear to see. They have worked tirelessly to earn their place on this team and are outstanding ambassadors for Welsh Gymnastics and Team Wales.

“We know they will embrace every moment of the experience in Glasgow and inspire the next generation of gymnasts back home. We wish them every success and look forward to seeing what this talented group can achieve at the Commonwealth Games.”
