In the first funding window of the Be Active Wales Fund (2 April – 4 June 2025), three gymnastics clubs were successful in securing grants to help grow and improve their programmes:
Somersault Gymnastics Club
Awarded £18,000, this funding will enable them to create an additional fully kitted-out training area within their facility. The grant will be used to purchase low beams, foam modules, springboards, and mats, supporting the expansion in membership and progress of their recreational section.
City of Newport Gymnastics Academy
Receiving £5,808, the club will invest in a new vault, updated safety mats, and coach/judge development. Four individuals will complete their Level 1 coaching qualification, and five on a Women’s Artistic club judge course.
Maldwyn Dragons Gymnastics Club
With £11,583 in grant funding, Maldwyn Dragons will focus on both coach education and acquiring additional equipment to strengthen their capacity and offerings across the club.
These awards will not only boost facility quality and safety, but also support the professional development of coaches and judges, helping these clubs deliver higher standards, attract more participants, and build sustainability for the future.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the National Lottery, whose investment enables these positive developments in grassroots sport across Wales.
