Welsh Trampoline, Tumbling, and DMT gymnasts made their mark at the National Age Group Finals and British Championships, held at the Telford International Centre on the 4th and 5th of October. Athletes from across Wales showcased their skill, power, and precision as they competed against the best in Britain, and delivered a string of outstanding performances.
National Age Group Finals:
In the Trampoline events, Elvis Spencer of Caerau Vale Trampoline Club proved his versatility with a strong showing, finishing 7th in the Men’s 10 Years category. Spencer also excelled on Double Mini Trampoline (DMT), claiming a superb silver medal, Wales’ first podium of the weekend.
Fusion Gymnastics Wales celebrated impressive performances from their rising stars, with Mali Jones finishing 16th in the Women’s 11–12 Years category and Efan Oates placing 11th in the Men’s 13–14 Years. Harry Mannay of Freefallers Trampoline Club impressed in the Men’s 17–21 Years group, securing 8th place, while teammate Alana Parez earned 13th in the Women’s event.
In the senior women’s trampoline, India Marshall of Cardiff Met Trampoline Club delivered a fantastic routine to take 6th, with Cerys McIntosh from Edgebarrow Trampoline Club also representing Wales strongly.
On DMT, Spencer added to his success with that 2nd-place finish, while Mannay once again demonstrated consistency among the top competitors in his age group.
The Tumbling events were equally exciting for the Welsh contingent. Griff Macintosh-Jones of Carmarthenshire School of Gymnastics (CSOG) tumbled his way to a bronze medal in the Men’s 10 Years category, while Chelsea Hitchings from Wye Galaxy Gymnastics and Cheerleading matched that achievement with 3rd in the Women’s 11–12 Years. Caleb Owens (Aberystwyth) earned a solid 7th, and older competitors Luca Burgess-Williams (CSOG) and Owen Jac Robert (Aberystwyth) placed 11th and 13th respectively in the Men’s 15–16 Years.
The Men’s 17–21 Years tumble category was fiercely contested, with Peter Goldberg of Durham taking the title, ahead of Revolution’s Dylan Smallcombe (7th) and Aberystwyth’s Reuben Lerwill (12th). Leia Vobe capped off the Age Group Finals with a strong 9th place in the Women’s 17–21 Years event.
British Championships:
The following day saw the British Championships, where Welsh gymnasts continued to shine on the biggest domestic stage.
In Trampoline, Mali Jones impressed again with an 11th-place finish in the Youth Women’s event, while India Marshall built on her success from the Age Group Finals, taking an excellent 5th in the Senior Women category. Cerys McIntosh also produced a steady performance to place 16th.
The Synchro Trampoline pairing of Herbert and Oates (Fusion Gymnastics Wales) worked in perfect harmony to secure 6th place in the Junior Men’s category.
On DMT, Elvis Spencer continued his breakthrough season, finishing 6th in Youth Men, while Harry Mannay wrapped up a busy weekend with 10th in the Senior Men’s event.
In Tumbling, Caleb Owens (Aberystwyth) placed 12th in the Youth Men’s category, followed by teammates Griff Macintosh-Jones (13th) and Luca Burgess-Williams (15th). In the Senior Men’s, Peter Goldberg once again showed his dominance with a superb silver medal, while Smallcombe finished 13th. Leia Vobe rounded off the Welsh results with a brilliant 6th place in the Senior Women’s Tumbling.
Across every discipline, Welsh gymnasts demonstrated depth, determination, and rising potential. From promising youngsters to seasoned seniors, Wales’ presence on the national stage continues to strengthen, with standout performances that signal an exciting future for the sport.
