Ruby Evans produced the performance of her career at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta, achieving two outstanding results that mark a new chapter for Welsh gymnastics.
Evans first impressed in the qualification rounds, where strong performances across all four apparatus secured her a place in both the all-around and floor finals. She went on to compete in the women’s all-around final, finishing 10th overall — a superb result that underlined her growing consistency and composure on the world stage.
Later in the week came the moment that will go down in history. Returning to the arena for the floor final, the 18-year-old from Cardiff delivered one of the cleanest and most expressive routines of her career. Her tumbling passes were powerful, her choreography sharp, and her landings secure, earning her a score that put her second and clinched the silver medal.

“I feel good,” Evans said afterwards. “I feel like the main goal for me was just upgrading the floor, and obviously to have a medal around my neck is just, it’s amazing to have it.”
Her performance saw her become the first Welsh gymnast ever to win an individual medal at a World Championships, a milestone moment both for her and for Welsh sport.
For now, her silver medal in Jakarta stands as a remarkable achievement, a testament to her talent, focus, and perseverance, and a proud moment for Welsh sport.
