Welsh Olympian Ruby Evans (Clwb Cymru) has been selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming 2025 World Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. The championships take place from the 19th–25th October and will see the world’s best artistic gymnasts compete for all-around and individual apparatus titles.

Evans, who competed at the Olympic Games last year, will line up alongside fellow Olympian Abi Martin (South Devon), 2025 British all-around champion Alia Leat (Heathrow), and 16-year-old Shantae-Eve Amankwaah (Bristol Hawks).

This year’s World Championships are focused solely on individual events, with no team medals on offer. The British delegation will gather for preparation camps at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre, the home of British Gymnastics, before departing for Jakarta on the 13th October.

The non-travelling reserves named are Taeja James (Notts), Frances Stone (Amber Valley), Shanna-Kae Grant (Leeds).

For Wales, there is added reason to celebrate with Frances Stone also included on the reserve list. Stone, who features on the Welsh long list for the next Commonwealth Games, joins Evans in flying the flag for Welsh gymnastics on the international stage.

Welsh Gymnastics would like to congratulate both Ruby and Frances on their selections and wish the full team every success as they prepare for Jakarta.
