Lexi Holmes

CWG 2026 Longlist Gymnast

I started gymnastics when I was 4 at Cardiff Central Youth Club. I absolutely loved it and I just wanted to be at gymnastics all the time. At age 8 I was selected for the Welsh Foundation Squad where I trained once a month with the national coaches and at age 9 I began training full time at Sport Wales National Centre which is where I am now. My gymnastics journey has had its ups and downs, but I’m so proud of the hard work I have put in to get to this point.

The achievements I am most proud of so far include being a member of the Great Britain Aspire and Junior Squads for the last 3 years, becoming the 2025 British Junior Bars, Beam and Floor Champion and representing Team GB at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival.

I had a challenging end to 2025 after suffering a knee injury whilst competing but I’m really proud of my hard work to recover and to be back competing.

My favourite piece is floor and I’m excited to be competing a new floor routine this year which will hopefully include a couple of new skills. My favourite skill is a double layout on floor as I love to compete and train it.

I am currently still in school where I will be sitting my GCSE’s this year!

Heading into my first year as a senior gymnast, I’m so proud to be on the 2026 Commonwealth Games longlist amongst some amazing teammates and it would be a real honour to represent Wales at such a prestigious competition.
