Welsh Gymnastics has taken a significant leap forward in its mission to develop the sport of Trampoline across the country, thanks to new capital funding support. A total of ÂŁ55,598 has been awarded to the governing body, enabling the purchase of four state-of-the-art ‘Ultimate’ trampolines that will benefit all our athletes.

The funding, provided through Sport Wales, comes in response to the 2022 School Sport Survey, which highlighted a high unmet demand for trampolining across Wales. This strategic investment aims to meet that need by improving access to high-quality training equipment and facilities, creating new opportunities for aspiring trampolinists.

Two of the new trampolines will be housed at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff, while the others will be placed at Cardiff Metropolitan University and Freefallers Trampoline Club—expanding the reach and accessibility of performance-level equipment in Wales.

Mark Samuels, HPC (in training) and a coach at Cardiff Met University, welcomed the investment:
“Welsh Gymnastics’ recent focus and investment in the sport of Trampoline over the past few years is really starting to show and pay dividends, which is a statement of commitment to the athletes, the community, and the future of Trampoline in Wales. A recent example of this is the investment in equipment, with funding secured to purchase four new Trampolines and locating them in different venues in Wales. We consider ourselves very fortunate to benefit from this investment and one brand-new Ultimate, of which, this investment will allow us to push the boundaries of skill development, raise performance standards, and create an environment where athletes can truly excel not just in Wales but on the National stage and beyond.”

Welsh Performance Squad gymnasts India and Lance also shared their excitement:
“Having this new trampoline is incredible—not just for our training but for the whole Trampoline community. It shows that Welsh Gymnastics believes in us and in the sport’s potential. With this investment, we can refine our skills, push our limits, and elevate the experience for everyone involved. It’s an exciting time to be a part of this journey.”

This latest move underlines Welsh Gymnastics’ continued commitment to growing trampoline gymnastics and providing athletes with the tools they need to achieve excellence. With enhanced facilities and growing enthusiasm, the future for Welsh trampolining is brighter—and bouncier—than ever.
