Welsh gymnast Lexi Holmes has been selected to represent Team GB at the upcoming 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which takes place in Osijek, Croatia, from 22nd to 26th July. EYOF is the largest multi-sport event for young athletes in Europe, bringing together over 4,000 competitors from 48 countries across 15 sports.
Lexi, who trains at Clwb Cymru Caerdydd, has enjoyed a standout season so far. At the Welsh Junior Championships, she delivered a clean sweep, taking gold in the All-Around, Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor events. Her impressive form continued at the British Championships, where she was crowned British Junior Champion on Bars, Beam, and Floor, and finished second in the All-Around competition.

On the international stage, Lexi recently represented Great Britain at a four-way international, gaining valuable experience against strong opposition. She placed 6th individually and played a key role in helping the British team secure the bronze medal.
Posting on her Instagram following her EYOF selection, Lexi shared:
‘I’m going to give it my everything to make everyone proud, especially everyone who has helped and supported me along the way’.
Her selection for Team GB’s EYOF squad is a reflection of her consistency, and rising profile within the sport. She’ll compete alongside teammates Helena Finc and Jenitha Johnson in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team, which is supported by a dedicated coaching and support staff.
Also making the journey to Croatia is Lexi’s coach, Tracey Skirton, who has been named as part of the official GB coaching team for the event. Tracey has been instrumental in Lexi’s development and her selection highlights the strength of the programme at Clwb Cymru Caerdydd.
The EYOF provides a unique opportunity for young athletes to experience a multi-sport international environment, often seen as a stepping stone toward future senior-level success. For Lexi, it marks another exciting chapter in what has already been a remarkable year.
Everyone at Welsh Gymnastics, is incredibly proud of Lexi and Tracey. We wish them both, and the entire Team GB squad, the very best of luck in Osijek.
