Course Details

This award will give you the opportunity to develop many skills which will be of use to you, both in a sporting environment and in life in general.

The Gymnastics Leader Award is a course that will help you develop many different volunteering skills, such as being able to communicate with others in a sports setting.

The course will enable candidates aged 13+ years (including parents and ex-gymnasts) to assist in the delivery a recreational gymnastics scheme under direct supervision of a Level 2 gymnastics coach.

 

Pre-Requisites:

Learners must be at least 13 years old.

 

How the course works:

Unit 1: Communication Skills- The aim of this unit is to explore the importance of communication and help learners learn and improve their communication skills to lead effective tasks/activities.

Unit 2: Roles and Responsibilities- The aim of this unit it to look at and create understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Sport Leader.

Unit 3: Health & Safety – The aim of this unit is to help leaders think about their surroundings while leading an activity.

Unit 4: Planning & Delivery – The aim of this unit is to learn about the processes of planning gymnastics-based physical activities.

 

·       – Warm Up Activities.

·       – Stretching.

·       – Supporting on Bars, Floor, Vault and Beam.

·       – Basic Skill Breakdown.

·       – Delivering gymnastics skills.

 

Assessment:

Your Tutor/Assessor will assess your ability to lead others in a gymnastic skill. If you satisfy them that you can do this, you will be awarded your Sport Leaders Award in Gymnastics certificate
