Silver success for Team GB’s Ruby Evans at European Youth Olympic Festival

Double reigning British junior champion Ruby Evans added to her growing reputation with a stunning silver medal on the vault for Team GB at the 2022 Summer European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Slovakia.

The 15-year-old women’s artistic gymnast from Cardiff performed two fantastic vaults for an average of 13.483 and only narrowly missed out on gold behind Germany’s Helen Kevric (13.516). Ruby had also qualified in second after competing an impressive new vault.

In the girls’ team competition Ruby, along with Clwb Cymru Caerdydd teammate Evie Flage-Donovan, also aged 15, and South Devon’s Abi Martin, secured a sixth-place finish for Team GB out of a 24-strong field in Banská Bystrica.

Next up for both Ruby and British junior beam champion Evie is the 2022 Artistic European Championships in Munich, Germany later this month when both will compete in the women’s junior team.
