At the beginning of November, 14 talented gymnasts from Wales took centre stage at the prestigious David Ward Hunt Cup in Gillingham, Kent. Representing Freefallers Trampoline Club, Fusion Gymnastics and Trampoline, and Caerau Vale Trampoline Club, the athletes competed in one of the UK’s premier international competitions for trampoline and double mini trampoline (DMT). Facing some tough opposition from gymnasts representing Sweden, the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, and clubs across the UK, the Welsh team showed remarkable skill and determination.
For many of these gymnasts, the event marked their debut on the international stage, providing invaluable experience and a chance to showcase their talents at a higher level. The competition was intense, but the Welsh athletes rose to the challenge, with four gymnasts qualifying for the finals on Sunday—a testament to their hard work.

These exceptional results reflect not only the talent of the gymnasts but also the commitment of their coaches and the training they’ve undergone. The gymnasts have been training intensly not only at their home clubs but also under the guidance of Welsh Trampoline Squad head coach Ricardo Trony. A highly experienced coach and judge from Portugal, Trony’s expertise has been instrumental in preparing these athletes for high-level competition. Supporting him is the newly appointed Foundation Squad Coach Naomi Bevan-Jones, who has also played a key role in the gymnasts’ development.
Congratulations are also due to their personal coaches—Lisa Parkinson, Naomi Bevan-Jones, and Craiger Solomons—whose dedication and guidance continue to produce outstanding results.
The David Ward Hunt Cup marks a significant milestone in the careers of these young gymnasts. Competing against top talent from across Europe, they have gained valuable experience that will undoubtedly serve them well in future competitions. Wales’ trampoline and DMT scene is clearly thriving, and these results hint at an exciting future for these athletes on the international stage. Congratulations to all involved!
