Last weekend gave another chance for some of our Acro gymnasts to compete for Wales as a region at the British Regional Acrobatic NDP, Youth & IDP Finals and Disability Acrobatic Finals 2022.

For our Acro gymnasts, this was the second chance since a return after COVID for them to compete in a Regional Acro NDP finals, with the first opportunity being October 2021.

This competition, staged at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent, saw a marked improvement in all routines, artistry and execution results across all partnerships, which is testament to the huge amount of dedication from our fabulous coaches and gymnasts.

Wales had a full team of competitors who managed to produce some fantastic results:

• Bronze medal for West Street’s Ella Mai Davies, Isabella Hall and Jessica McNulty in the IDP 2 women’s group category.
• Silver medal and second place went to Saltney’s Kieran Guy and Sophie Grundy in the IDP 2 mixed pair category.
• GOLD medal in the IDP 2 women’s pair category and therefore BRITISH champions are the pair from Newport Acro, Tess Pole and Lowri Parry.

For Newport Acro this is the second time this year they have come away with one of their partnerships taking top spot on the podium during competition. Well done gymnasts and coaches alike.

There was more to celebrate for Wales and West Street with Maya Verbeck & Luna Evans (Grade 2 Women’s Pair) and Tess and Lowri from Newport Acro both sharing the highest technical score from all Welsh partnerships and the bronze medal winning group of Jessica, Ella and Isabella coming away with the highest artistry score out of our Welsh competitors.

A successful event for Wales and Welsh Acro. Well done to all and we look forward to watching you grow within the discipline and are encouraged with the clubs’ engagement with our new Head Coach Ian Said.
