There were some fantastic performances and plenty of success for Welsh gymnasts at the 2022 Adult Gymnastics British Championships held last weekend.

Taking place over the course of two action-packed days at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, gymnasts from several disciplines were competing for the title of British Champion.

Buckley’s Tara Quinn was crowned British Champion in the WAG Novice Over 18 category, bagging the overall title with an all-around score of 35.900. Tara led a Wales 1-2-3 with Cardiff Central Youth Club’s Thea Jones (34.750) and Seren Richards (34.500) in second and third respectively.

Tara top scored on vault, Seren was first on uneven bars, Thea led the way on beam and St Tyfils’ Glesni Powell – who was seventh overall – was first on the floor.

There was more medal success for Buckley in the WAG Pro Over 45 category with Hannah Fargher claiming second in the all-around with a score of 31.783.

In the WAG Pro Over 18 category, Abbie Godsall (35.250) from Cardiff Central returned with silver in the all-around competition, with Buckley’s Olivia Sanders seventh.

As well as competing individually across different categories, Buckley’s quintet of Tara, Hannah, Olivia, Rebecca Hamm (WAG Introductory Over 45) and Bethan Griffiths (WAG Novice Over 30) won Team Silver.

Meanwhile in the men’s competition Cardiff Central also have a new British Champion after Rob Scott triumphed in the MAG Intermediate Over 18 section with an all-around total of 50.900.

YMCA Barry’s Jonathan Davies collected bronze in the MAG Novice Over 30 all-around competition with a score of 49.300. Jon also had the top scores on floor and vault.

Congratulations also to Gemma Bazley from Neath Flyers Academy, who helped herself to a stunning gold medal in the TRA Women’s Intermediate Over 18 competition while, in the TUM Men’s Pro event, Yaseen Rehman from Planet Sport and Community grabbed silver.
