Welsh tumblers get back on track as national championships return

After nearly two years away, championship tumbling in Wales made its long-awaited return to the track at the end of last month with the 2022 Welsh Tumbling Open/Closed Championships.

This year’s championships were also open to English clubs to attend and we welcomed two visiting clubs from England.

The competition was very much a celebration of tumbling, within a superb new venue at All Stars on Treforest Industrial Estate, who made everyone feel extremely welcome.

After so much time away from the track, one might think standards would have fallen – but our Welsh tumbling community did not disappoint, showing off some fantastic tumbling.

From our youngest competitors in Club Level 5 to our FIG elite level tumblers, all gymnasts looked well prepared and excited and pleased with their results.

Special mentions to Tia Powell from CSOG and Lauren Moyle from All Stars who stormed ahead in their categories, winning by nearly five points and 2.5 points respectively.

Our RCC L3 gymnasts Daisy Frankling and Bethan Fleet, both from Planet, were separated by only 0.2 in their age group, while Reuben Lerwill had a convincing win in the men’s category for FIG 13/14 years.
